Megg Jensen

Hi everyone!!! Wow, thanks so much for stopping by The Writer's Voice. I have a feeling this is going to be a really fun blog.

My name is Megg Jensen and I'm a YA fantasy author. OMG, sounds like I'm in a 12-step program, doesn't it? I'll try to jazz up the rest. ;)

I began writing in 1982. No, I'm not old; I just started young. My earliest memory of attempting to write a book was at the age of seven. From there, I spent countless hours typing books on my parents' ancient typewriter. Yes, I would use old paper - on purpose, because it was brown, like the pages of an old book - type out my stories, then meticulously cut the pages to the same size as a paperback. Then I'd staple them together.

It's kind of ironic that now I focus mainly on epublishing...

If you raided my closet, you'd find an old army ammunition crate my great-uncle brought back from World War II. Inside that crate is tons of ammo - the literary kind. If you guys saw those old stories, poems, newspapers, and drawings, you'd probably never buy one of my novels. Thankfully they stay hidden by oodles of awesome high-heeled shoes.

In the late 1990s, I had a few short stories published under my real name (Megg is a pen name and if you want to know why, here's my answer). Feeling confident, I attempted a novel. Then another. One of them will never see the light of day, the other might...someday.

Got married to a guy I met swing dancing (I know, right? Every girl yearns for a guy who loves to dance), moved, and had a baby. To keep my brain from turning to jelly, I became a freelance journalist. After a while, the novel bug bit again - and since then I never looked back.

Let's see....random facts...I love swing dancing and inline skating. I'm pretty sure I cannot ride a bicycle. I have the hubby, two kids (one biological, one adopted), and I kinda wish my mom and dad lived with us because they are so awesome. I grew up on a farm and now I live in the suburbs. After nearly twenty years, I'm still trying to adjust living so close to people. My favorite author of all time is Marion Zimmer Bradley. If The Canterbury Tales were a food, it would be chocolate and I would eat a part of it every day. If you haven't read Chaucer, you should.

I mainly write fantasy (there is a YA contemporary on my hard drive) and I work with the most amazing group of women at DarkSide Publishing. I love my life. I always wanted to be a writer (or an archaeologist) and I live my dream every day!!!!

Doomed by Jayde Scott

Hidden from mortal eyes are the creatures of darkness that coexist with mortals: Shadows, vampires, fallen angels, demons, shape shifters, succubi, and the likes.

On the outside, seventeen-year-old Cassandra appears to be a normal girl: bubbly and always on the lookout for a fashion bargain. However, Cassandra hides a dark secret. She's half fallen angel with a terrible curse on her back - a curse that might just take away everything she's ever fought for. When she meets Dallas, she knows he's someone who could free her from her imminent fate. Trouble is, she's Lucifer's daughter and Dallas is mortal, an easy target for her enemies who can destroy her by killing him. Her powers will soon be put to the test when a revengeful killer starts wracking havoc in Hell in her quest to get the one thing half the paranormal world desires.

Will chaos-loving Cassandra find a way to sway her immortal family in Dallas's favour and save both Dallas and herself from what the Seers see coming?

A Job From Hell

For most of her life, Amber has been certain of three things: that she wants to get back with her ex, who dumped her. That she has no clue about housekeeping but needs to work for her money to afford college. That Scotland must be one of the quietest and friendliest places in the world allowing plenty of relaxation. Or so she thought.

When Amber moves to Scotland to earn some cash through a summer job, she tastes freedom for the first time, but what starts out as a harmless temporary position turns sinister when she is dragged into a dangerous world she never knew existed. Hidden from mortal eyes exist the creatures of darkness such as Shadows, Vampires, fallen angels, shape-shifters and others with powers. A world where the mystical bond given by fates draws her to the immortal Aidan, who can give her everything she ever wanted...but it can also destroy everything she holds dear.

What starts out as innocent fun, becomes a contract of its own kind when she enters the woods one night and gets involved in a paranormal race and wins the first prize. With every immortal creature hunting her because of the prize and with Aidan having some secrets of his own, whom can she trust with her life?

Falling in love has never been this dangerous. There is one thing Amber is sure of:

You cannot choose whom to love. Love chooses you. And sometimes at the wrong place and at the wrong time and maybe even with the wrong person.

Meet Jayde Scott

Jayde Scott is a British writer most notable for creating the Ancient Legends series. Jayde has had a fascination with Scotland and Scottish folklore ever since visiting a haunted B&B many years ago where strange noises coming from an empty room in the middle of the night scared her to death. Since then, Scotland, world mythology and the paranormal have provided plenty of inspiration and play a key role in all her books. Although she'd rather be a witch than a vampire, Jayde's favorite book is The Queen Of The Damned by Anne Rice, not least because she prefers her vampires dark, broody and deadly. Jayde must have read The Lord Of The Rings trilogy a hundred times and is a huge admirer of Tolkien's distinctive talent for world building and creating fascinating characters.

When she's not writing, she spends her time overloading on caffeine and chocolate muffins, talking about her characters with anyone who will listen, and playing hide and seek with her cats (no kidding, cats are remarkably clever at learning and winning (!) this game).

Chronicles of the Fade

CHRONICLES OF THE FADE by Samantha Young

Slumber (Chronicles of the Fade #1)

A sleeping beauty may be the damsel in distress, but her White Knight? Why her rather un-knightish best friend of course. And the White Knight’s White Knight? Well… none other than her reluctant mortal enemy…

When Haydyn falls victim to the mysterious Sleeping Disease, the world of Phaedra is thrown into Chaos.

Rogan, Haydyn’s best friend and handmaiden, is the only one who can save her. Together, with the Royal Guard and their young Captain, Wolfe Stovia, Rogan must set off across the provinces to find the Somna Plant that will wake Haydyn from her dying sleep.

Beset on all sides by the chaos, Rogan tumbles into a dark world of kidnapping, prejudice, betrayal and love… a journey that will change her forever, and a journey that will change their world forever, if she does not retrieve the cure.
