Hello everyone and welcome to The Writer's Voice.
My name is Emma Michaels (I know, totally obvious above but hey I've got to start this out somewhere. : p ) and I am the author of Young Adult novels The Thirteenth Chime and Anasazi.
(Posts on TTC and Ansazi coming later today!)
I started book blogging in 2009 and was first published in 2010. I started The Writers Voice in 2011 as a way to help readers get to know authors on multiple levels when I realized that the more I know about an author, the more their work means to me. Naturally, I wanted to get to know more authors, especially some of my favorites, so I invited them to be a part of the team. As the team came together it turned out to be about more than I had hoped; it also started to be about each individual author's voice. We are all so different but we all share so many of the same goals and passions that bring us together, so why not team up to help spread all of the wonderful things that writing, reading and loving literature means to each of us.
I could give a full back-story of my life but it isn't a very happy story or one that most people would believe so I will concentrate more on who I am now. My life changed for me when I moved to Washington at 17 to be with the man I love and who was the first man to ask me what I had secretly wanted to be "when I grow up". I told him an author but "I knew it was a pipe dream". He told me that there are no such thing as good or bad dreams, just dreams a person chooses to follow or not and taught me that sometimes reaching for the impossible can make a world of difference in your live and now I am here. Published, reaching for the stars and never giving up on the things I believe in.
People say that Washington weather is terrible because it is always raining or snowing. I LOVE both so it is a perfect fit. My friends tend to call me monkey, monkey girl, monkey princess or MEMMA because of the legend of the monkey king. *shifty eyes* Apparently I have a habit of reaching for the impossible and being incredibly stubborn about getting it and making it completely possible now. You will almost never find me without a notebook (with blank pages so I can both write and draw) and if I make my fortune in books one day I will probably need to buy stock in green tea. Green tea is my version of coffee, only it is healthier so I can get away with drinking more of it.
If having your head stuck in the clouds were against the law I would be living out a life sentence. I am always dreaming of new story outlines, plot twists and amazing adventures and thankfully am very good at multi-tasking. I love Doctor Who, reading about female knights even if I don't write about them (what can I say, I like rule breakers) and am in love to social networking. If you want to find out more you will just have to follow the blog and see!
I love getting to hear from fans, readers, bloggers and just about anyone so feel free to contact me:
