Interview with Suzy Turner

Give a warm welcome to our guest author of the day
Suzy Turner!

What would you like for readers to take away from your novel/novels?

Pure escapism! I like to forget the rest of the world when I'm reading a good book and I'd love for my readers to have the same experience when they're reading mine.

What part of your first novel did you find hardest to write?

Ooh that's a tough question! The actual writing is really the easy bit... it's the editing that's the hardest part!

Was there ever a moment when you wouldn’t trade what you do as an author for the world? What was that moment for you?

There are a few actually :) When I read my first awesome review; When a friend's son said that I should win an award for my book; When I received my first fan (e)mail!

What makes you feel like you’re reading or have read a truly amazing book?

When a book completelely takes me away from my world; that I can't put it down (and I even have to read it in the loo!!)

Is there one book that has had an impact on not only your writing, but on you personally?

The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood. I had to study it in college but I fell in love with it. The way she wrote the story has just stayed with me ever since. It's also given me a love for dystopian novels.

Tell us something most people don’t know about you!

Gosh this was a really tough question! Erm... how about this: I used to have a recurring nightmare that I was trapped in a coastal town where there was a tidal wave. It was so scary... fortunately I haven't had it for a while now. But it was enough to convince me that I probably drowned in a previous life!
