Indie Bookfest Author Andrea Heltsley

I am a biology nerd who decided it was more fun writing than dissecting. I have written three novels and four more will be out in 2013. I live on coffee and read like a robot. My husband and two italian greyhounds usually have to tear me away from the computer...imagine that.

Dancing with Deception: How far would you go to keep your nightmares a secret?
Wendy has been struggling with vivid, chilling nightmares that leave her exhausted and horrified. What will Wendy do to protect her secret when she discovers her nightmares are real? Death is coming and he’s coming for her.
Read the chilling prequel novella to the paranormal romance, Dancing with Death.

Dancing with Death: Murders have plagued the woods in the past, making them a place of fear. Eighteen year old Wendy and her friends become worried when a new string of murders come to their high school.
After a horrible car accident, Wendy returns to school, going from wallflower to popular overnight. Suddenly she is the center of attention, paying more attention to guys and clothes. Things are heating up for Wendy with more than one guy vying for her affections.
As the murderer edges closer to Wendy she realizes things are changing. She is afflicted with nightmares that are all too real and she herself is undergoing unnatural changes. Learning the truth about her past, could be the key to saving her future.

Indie Bookfest 2013 author Adam Kunz

**Mature Content Warning** Recommended for 17+ due to language, violence, and sexual content.

Just one tiny secret has the potential to ruin everything.
Being the daughter of the sheriff in a small town like Holden Ridge means that eighteen-year-old Danielle “Dani” Marks’ life is under constant surveillance. She’s made a habit of staying under the radar by being a floater among social circles at school, which has kept her out of trouble—until now.
After a missing persons case stirs up the entire town, Dani finds herself caught right in the middle of the scandal. When she’s labeled a possible suspect, things quickly go from bad to worse. The sudden return of her old flame, Parker Reed, manages to make her whole situation even more complicated.
When an elusive unknown person begins to blackmail Dani by threatening to reveal her deepest secrets, Dani refuses to play along. That is, until the person’s actions take a violent turn. Holden Ridge loses its sense of quaint town security, and Dani is caught in a deadly game of cat and mouse.
Who can she trust when anyone around her could be a suspect?
One thing’s for certain though: Never underestimate the power of one tiny secret.

Adam Kunz

I'm so excited to meet Adam at Indie Bookfest 2013.  After One Tiny Secret came out, Adam posted the best vlog - he seems to be the real deal!  Here's a little bit about Adam.

Adam Kunz is the A in C.A. Kunz, the mother mother and son author duo. Growing up, he always had a fondness for R.L. Stine’s Fear Street series. So, it was a no brainer when he decided to write his own novel that it’d be a thrilling mystery with a dash of horror. When he’s not busy writing, Adam enjoys his job at a theme park in Orlando, Florida as a décor consultant. This job brings him face to face with all sorts of nightmarish creatures, especially when he decorates the haunted houses for the park's annual Halloween event. It’s been said by many that his addiction to Starbucks coffee will most likely be his downfall later in life.

My Review of A Pirate, a Blockade Runner and a Cat

http://beverlystowemcclure.wordpress.com/
http://beverlystowemcclure.blogspot.com/

Get ready to set sail with Erik Burks and his new friends, Starry and Stormy, (the twins) as they head out to sea on an unforgettable adventure.

Erik's parents have split up, and that's why Erik and his mom have gone to live with his aunt in South Carolina. This being the case, all Erik wants to do is go back to Texas and reunite with his crush, Diana, as well as his baseball buddies. When the twins talk him into venturing out in a canoe to check out some strange lights at a lighthouse, little does he know what is in store for him—strange phenomenon—like in ghosts, and not just human ghosts but a cat ghost to boot.

Beverly Stowe McClure has done a superb job in writing this action packed story. It involves entering a spooky lighthouse, encountering the paranormal, sailing on the sea in a dangerous storm, and much more. Mingled in between all of this are teens trying to relate to dead people from centuries ago, as well as Erik having to deal with his concerned mom, who has no idea that he and the twins are without parental supervision (other than the adult ghosts) on the turbulent sea.

Having a thirteen-year-old son myself, I am very familiar with this age, and all I can say is hats off to Ms. McClure for an awesome job on creating the teen characters and perfecting their age appropriate dialog—definitely current, up to date, and a lot of fun to read.

I recommend this book to tweens, teens and adults. It is definitely a nonstop page-turner

Her fall has just begun. Only his touch can save her from the shift that could destroy it all.
Within my blood runs a thing our kind calls The Shadowing Disease. It shadows over, and bends everything to its will. When the first blood- shift came, it tore through flesh and blood, threatening to bend me, break bone, shatter my mind and entrap my heart with its honeyed, seductive poison. It came with vicious intent, moving my thoughts and altering me forever. The shift has caused a rift within me. No one was safe when it entrapped me in its claws of foul lust. But I have the only antidote against the evil that becomes me – his touch alone has the power to release the spurs of sweet darkness that clung on for dear life. I knew what I had to do; the desperation pulled my mind with the deep determination of a hungry predator. But by the time the revelation raised me from the dark dungeon of my bounds – it might have been too late.

Author Diversity

One of the many things I've learned since becoming an author is that there are so many people to meet in this world. Being a writer, you get the chance to meet people who have the potential to make a huge impact on your life, and your writing. There are writers and readers of every background. You never know who you're going to get to meet next, and I love it!

There is this stereotype of us writers where we're all intellectual tight-asses. Like our lives have to be all fancy and fine-dining. You see a writer in a movie and they're mostly the same: snobby, posh, and come from a rather lucrative background. Obviously not every portrayal is like that, especially nowadays where the world is more interested in the reality of things, but the stereotype remains amongst those who don't really know our world.

If you haven't already learned then I'm here to tell you this: Everyone, even writers, is an individual. No person is the same as the last. You can get people with similarities, but you'll never find a perfect clone. Each writer has their own way of doing things; their own inspirations and muses; their own type of literature they prefer and their own style of writing. Not every writer is the same. Take me for example. You expect writers to be all sophisticated and listen to classical music while writing to stimulate their minds. Not me. I listen to hardcore rock and metal, I play M-rated video games for fun, and I love to practice boxing. When have you seen a movie about an author who does those things? Not that I know of, that's for sure!

But not just me, everyone. Ask any writer their favorite type of music and you'll most likely get a different answer each time. Ask them their favorite movie, their favorite book (that'll definitely get an interesting answer haha!) or their favorite place to live, and you'll learn that each writer is an individual. I like rock, but you might find an author likes country, or pop, or rap. Never lunk us all together just as "Authors" but remember that we're people too, we just have this one specific hobby we like to do more often than others.

We're authors, and we're people too!

Character Interview with Decebel

Interview with Decebel, Alpha of the Serbian Pack and Mate to Jennifer
*How does it feel to be an Alpha again?
Like putting on a well worn glove that has been off for far too long. I’m an Alpha, it’s who I am and refusing to take that roll was tearing me apart though I did not realize it. But I couldn’t be a good Alpha without my mate at my side, so maybe that’s why it has taken so long. I was waiting for the brat to grow up.
*Do you miss being a Beta at all? If so, what is it?
I miss having the closeness that I had with Vasile. There is something special between and Alpha and his Beta.
*Does Jen really annoy you that much? Would you change anything about her?
Frustrate me, drive me insane, worry me, keep me alert and on my toes—yes, annoy me—no. I could not and would not change a thing about her because then she would not be my Jennifer.
*What did you truly think when you finally figured out that Jen was your mate?
The Fates knew what they were doing when they destined her for me. I could not be with someone with less spine than her, I would crush their spirit. I could not be with someone who didn’t know her worth and have her own confidence in herself because I’m so dominate that it’s her confidence that will help my wolf not try to put her in a bubble to keep her safe from every little thing.
*In Just One Drop and Out Of The Dark Fane and you seem to grow a bit closer as “friends”, do you still have that relationship?
For so long Fane has been Vasile’s son, and I didn’t realize that he had grown into a strong, dominant male. When we were going through all of those difficult situations and I was seeing him protect his mate I realized for the first time that Fane was no longer the boy I knew, but nearly close to my equal and one day will be.
*What is your favorite song that Jen has “danced” too?  (hehe!)
A song that was played in the privacy of our bedroom where for once I was her only audience and unlike my mate I do not share what goes on behind closed doors.
*Since we only know a little bit about your past, what is your favorite childhood memory?
When I was young it was a nightly ritual for us to gather around the fire just before bed and my father would tell us a story. He was the best story teller. I don’t talk about my past much, but that is a time that I like to remember.
*What do you really do in your downtime?
*chuckles* You ask like it must be something utterly interesting. I spend time sparring with Jennifer, teaching her how to defend herself in her human and wolf form. I enjoy reading, though I prefer to read the classics. And I love to just sit with my mate and listen to her talk—she rarely stops but that’s alright because I love the way she makes me laugh. I’ve met no other who makes me laugh and feel at ease even in these dark times the way she can.
*How are you handling the ultimatum the Fates have thrown at you?

*Deep sigh* How does any man handle the idea of losing his child, and knowing his mate will suffer such a devastating loss? I’ve made a choice. It is not one that I am totally at ease with, but it is necessary and sometimes what is necessary sucks. Jennifer will always come first, and I know she won’t handle my choice well, but she will live, and our daughter will live and that is what matters to me.

Amanda Jason

Bio: Amanda Jason is the pen name for Carol Kunz’s adult romance novels. She is the C part of the mother and son author duo, C.A. Kunz. The name Amanda Jason actually has a special meaning to Carol because it is a tribute to the set of twins she lost many years ago. Carol began her dream of writing when her son, Adam, asked her to write a young adult fantasy novel back in 2011. She couldn’t have been happier to embark on this wonderful journey into the literary world with her son because it was #1 on her bucket list.

Carol currently lives in sunny Florida with her hubby and her two four-legged fur babies. She takes comfort in the fact that her amazing daughter and son live close by. When she isn’t writing, you can find her walking her yellow Lab or reading a good book. Lucky Number four is the debut novel of Amanda Jason, and it’s been a long time coming.

Book: Lucky Number Four (NA Romantic Comedy)

Book Blurb:
Pandora Ann Phillips’ life is just normal-crazy.

Her mom’s psychic, her dad’s mom is a snob, her mom’s parental units are ‘too down to earth’ and her best friends are newlyweds. Okay, so her best friends being newlyweds isn’t really abnormal, but living with them in a cramped two-bedroom apartment definitely is. Sex, sex, sex, is totally on their brains. Actually, it’s not only on their brains, but it’s on the kitchen table, couch, on top of the washer…well, you get the picture.

Being a celibate (not by choice, mind you) full-time college student, and working as an almost full-time barista, Pandora can’t afford to lose anymore sleep. So, she decides to seek out a new place to lay her head. Enter three ‘droll worthy’ guy models that are looking for a fourth roommate, and they want her…and won’t take no for an answer.

Romantic hilarity ensues as Pandora’s life turns completely upside down, and she begins to wonder if it will ever be the same again!

Questions & Answers with Victoria Simcox

Q: Can you tell us about the setting in your story The Magic Warble, and why you chose it?

A: A lot of the setting takes place in a rainy forest, maybe this is because I live in the rainy evergreen state of
Washington. I’ve always found rainforests to be mystical, a place where I would imagine fairies, gnomes and dwarfs living.

Q: What was the hardest part to write in TMW?

A: Definitely toward the ending. I don't want to give anything away but there are bittersweet moments and I even got teary eyed writing them.

Q: What was the inspiration behind the story? Where were you when you came up with the idea?

A: I remember I was sitting in the movie theater watching the first Harry Potter movie, when I envisioned my main character Kristina walking down a snowy sidewalk. At the time that’s all of the story I had. Somehow inspired, I went home that night and wrote my first page of my story not knowing where it would go.

Q: Do you plan on writing more children fantasy novels?

A: Yes, I’m thinking that there will be three, maybe four books in this series, and then I may come up with another series.

Q: Thank you for this interview, Victoria. Can you tell us where we can find out more about you and your wonderful new book?

A: Yes, for sure! www.themagicwarble.com . There are also quite a few reviews on www.amazon.com

Q: Is there a sequel in the making?

I'm glad that you asked me that because the sequel  is available for purchase. It is called "The Black Shard." I would love you and your followers to check it out a www.theblackshard.com
