Have to say, it was cool to read this exce...Hi all,<br />Have to say, it was cool to read this excerpt again. Squalor, New Mexico was the first book I read by Lisette Brodey and I subsequently read the rest of her works. <br />I related to both Darla and her parents in 'Squalor', having children myself. There is a particular scene in the book where Darla was put in a situation she knew was unsafe yet because she was with a few others went along with it. It was so intense and the outcome was very real that I had to ask my son to read it.<br /><br />There are many situations in "Squalor", where my mind was taken to similar past experiences where my views were that of a teenager and now of a parent.<br /><br />Ms. Brodey has such a talent for bringing the reader into her story's as a silent character and making you a part of her world.<br />If you are not familiar with Ms. Brodey's work then I could not recommend a better author to pick up and get to know.<br /><br />Happy reading :) Lisahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07238750104121236643noreply@blogger.com
